Skin Care with Natural Oils: Which Oil Does What?

Natural oils have been used in skin care for centuries with both moisturizing and therapeutic effects. Different natural oils should be preferred for different skin types and needs. For example, argan oil, rich in vitamin E, nourishes the skin and provides an anti-aging effect. Jojoba oil, with its structure similar to human sebum, is especially suitable for oily and acne-prone skin because it balances the skin’s own oil production. Coconut oil soothes dry and sensitive skin with its intense moisturizing properties, but should be used with caution on acne-prone skin due to the risk of clogging pores. Essential oils such as rose oil and lavender oil reduce stress-induced skin sensitivity thanks to their calming effects. These oils are usually diluted with carrier oils. It is recommended to test a small area before applying directly to the skin. Applying a few drops of natural oil to cleansed skin as part of a nighttime routine deeply nourishes the skin throughout the night. Natural oils are also very effective in areas such as lip care, hand and nail care. When the right oil is used in the right way, it offers a healthy and effective alternative to the skin care routine.
