Roll-on and deodorants are personal care products used against sweating, but they differ in function and structure. Roll-on is a liquid product with a ball cap that comes into direct contact with the skin. They usually provide longer lasting protection and reduce underarm wetness. Roll-ons with antiperspirant properties control sweating by partially blocking sweat glands. Deodorants are in spray form and are usually used to mask the odor of sweat. They neutralize bad odors thanks to their alcohol and perfume content. It does not stop sweating, but leaves a pleasant odor. For sensitive skin, perfume-free and alcohol-free varieties should be preferred. Which product to use depends on personal preference and skin structure. If effective protection against perspiration is desired, roll-on is preferable; for freshness and fragrance only, deodorant is preferable. For daily use, both products should be applied to dry skin after cleansing.
